Dr. Priscilla Muthoora Thakoor Heads IILM
The Governor of the Bank of Mauritius, has been named the Chairperson of the Governing Board of the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM).
Key Appointment
The announcement was made following the institution’s meeting on 3 December 2025. Dr. Thakoor succeeds Olayemi Michael Cardoso, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, in the prestigious role.

Commenting on the appointment, Dr. Thakoor said the Bank of Mauritius was “honoured to be able to contribute to the development of Islamic finance globally while ensuring compliance with rigorous governance standards.”

The IILM is a crucial global institution based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Its core mandate is to promote cross-border investment flows, strengthen international financial links, and enhance financial stability. It achieves this by creating liquid, Sharia-compliant financial instruments.
