Rs 10 Million Vacoas Road Overhaul Opens to Public Traffic

The newly reconfigured Père Laval Avenue in Vacoas is officially open to motorists as of today, Wednesday, December 3rd, following a major project estimated at Rs 10 million.

Key Traffic Flow Improvement

The core goal of the refurbishment is to significantly improve traffic flow for vehicles travelling from Floréal to Saint-Paul in this heavily used zone.

Minister Announces Next Phase

Ajay Gunness, the Minister of National Infrastructure, confirmed that the project’s development phase is continuing, with work set to begin on a second lay-by.

This new lay-by will be located on the Père Laval Promenade, opposite the SMF Museum, and is designed to provide improved access to Saint-Paul.

Safety Warning for Motorists

In a statement, Minister Gunness issued a strict appeal to all motorists using the reconfigured avenue and surrounding areas.

He urged them to “strictly respect the road signs” installed near the worksite to prevent accidents and guarantee the safety of all road users.
