The boy is currently under investigation for the most recent offences, which occurred Monday morning, December 1. The desperate mother is calling for her 12-year-old son to be placed in a shelter following his third alleged involvement in a car theft and hit-and-run incident.

During the incident, he allegedly stole a car in Quatre-Bornes and was then involved in a hit-and-run crash in Rose-Hill, injuring two people—a woman and her son—occupants of another vehicle.

The child was subsequently intercepted by police in Beau-Bassin. His mother is quoted as saying: “Place my child in a shelter]so that he does not reoffend.”

History:

  • Recurrence: Police sources indicate this is the third time the minor has been implicated in vehicle theft and road accident offences.
  • Missing Status: The 12-year-old had been missing since Friday prior to December 1 events.
  • Interception: He was ultimately stopped by authorities in Beau-Bassin.
  • Victims: The accident resulted in two injuries—a woman and her son—from the other car involved.

Follow-up and Context

The child has been handed over to Quatre-Bornes police for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation, with his mother present.

He is currently admitted to hospital to receive medical care.

Investigators are attempting to determine how the minor managed to drive the stolen vehicle from Quatre-Bornes, through Rose-Hill, all the way to Beau-Bassin.
