5 Evacuated as Container Fire Erupts at New Cascavelle Winners Site

Container fire at the rear of the new Winners supermarket in Cascavelle led to the evacuation and hospitalisation of five employees on Monday afternoon, November 24. The blaze broke out in a storage unit filled with cardboard at the site.

Emergency Response and Injuries

The employees were taken to hospital after being exposed to smoke from the blaze, which ignited in a container unit as the store prepares for its official opening.

Emergency services, including firefighters, were quickly alerted to the scene.

Fire crews successfully brought the blaze under control before it could spread further into the premises.

The five affected staff members were transported to various hospitals for medical examinations via ambulance services.

Two of the employees have since been medically cleared and released to return home. The remaining three are reported to be in a stable condition and are out of danger.

Management Statement

The management of Winners has confirmed it is closely monitoring the situation and is currently collaborating with authorities following the incident.
