Air Mauritius ATR 72-600 Forced to Turn Back After Cockpit Windscreen Fissure
Air Mauritius was recently forced to divert one of its newly acquired ATR 72-600 regional aircraft after a fissure was discovered in the cockpit windscreen shortly after take-off.
Incident Details
The aircraft, which was departing from Plaine-Corail, Rodrigues, on November 11, was compelled to make an immediate return to the aerodrome due to the damage.
The airline confirmed that any anomaly on the cockpit window constitutes a risk, justifying the swift decision to abort the flight.
Aircraft Back in Service
When asked for comment, Air Mauritius stated that the aircraft has since been fitted with a brand new windscreen and has been back in service for approximately one week.
