CEB Blackouts: 7 Major Regions Face Crucial Power Cuts For Grid Maintenance

Residents across Mauritius face a series of planned power cuts over the coming days, announced by the Central Electricity Board (CEB). The national utility company is implementing a programme of scheduled interruptions for essential maintenance, upkeep, and reinforcement of the electricity network.

Extensive Cuts Scheduled for Saturday, November 22

The most extensive disruption is scheduled for Saturday, November 22, with a number of areas facing outages, primarily between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (with some variations):

• Providence Quartier Militaire: Power will be off from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., affecting Tamil Temple Road, Leon Road, Swami Sivananda Road, Shivala Road, Bombay Road, and the Providence No. 3 housing development (morcellement).
• Cassis: A cut is scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Ménagerie, Jean Baptiste Lamasse, Saint-Joseph, Impasse Saint-Joseph, Louis Lane, Canal Dayot, Jean Baptiste Lebrun, and Sainte-Marie streets.
• Plaine Wilhems Heights (Rose Hill): An outage between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. will affect Avenue Antelme, Avenue Thiery, Avenue Seide Gele, Avenue Etiene Serret, Avenue Legeun, Avenue Antelme, and Avenue Tommy Roussete and their surrounding areas.
• Soreze and Surrounding Regions: Residents on numerous avenues, including Capitaine, Rouget, Mullet, Babonne, Marlin, Dorade, Croissant, La Perle, Carangue, King Fish, Flambovant, Michael Leal, the Sando housing development, and Domaine Saint Louis, will lose power from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Bois des Amourettes, Grand Port, and Ferney: A longer outage, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., is planned.
• Morcellement Ramdanee and environs: Areas including Route Cantin, Avenue Nanapragassen, Camp Bombaye No. 1 and No. 2, Route Moreau, Chemin Latour, Chemin La Touche, and parts of Route John-Kennedy, Route Thompson, and Route Très Bon No. 5 will experience a cut from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Upcoming Disruptions:

Further interruptions are slated for the following days:

• Vacoas (November 27th): A wide-ranging cut from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. will affect La Caverne No. 1 and No. 2, Morcellement Triton, Chemin Mission, Avenue Charles de Gaulles, and the Lagesse housing development, as well as the surrounding areas of Vacoas.
• Rose Belle (November 25th): Residents near Route Janmohur, part of Route Royale, and Marie Jeannie will face an outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Friday and General Advisories

• Camp Caval (November 21st): The first of the scheduled cuts is taking place between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., in the vicinity of the G. Coombes housing development (morcellement) and Terre Coupée.
• Eau Coulée (November 22nd): An interruption is planned for 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in parts of Lapeyrouse and Camp Rouillard.

The CEB is urging all affected customers to take necessary precautions in advance of the interruptions. The power board also confirmed that the electricity supply will be restored without prior notice as soon as the work in each area is completed.
