British Arrested at SSR Airport After Customs Seize Rs 15.7 Million of Cannabis
A young British baker has been arrested at Plaisance Airport after customs officers discovered 13 kilograms of compressed cannabis with an estimated street value of Rs 15.7 million concealed in his luggage.
The 22-year-old suspect was detained on Thursday, November 20, after arriving on a flight from Turkey.
The significant haul, comprising fifteen sachets of the compressed drug, was found during a routine check by the Customs Anti-Narcotics Section – CANS.
The cannabis was meticulously hidden within twenty-four plastic packages placed in a false bottom of one of the suspect’s suitcases.
The man, who told authorities he was intending a short tourist stay in the country, was arrested immediately. He was presented before the court this Friday, November 21, and has been remanded in custody.
