MMM To Remain In Mauritius Government After ‘Long’ Talks With PM
The Mouvement Militant Mauricien (MMM) has confirmed it will remain a member of the Mauritian government coalition, following successful negotiations with Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam.
Party leader Paul Bérenger made the announcement on Monday, 17 November 2025, after a Central Committee meeting held at the municipality of Beau-Bassin–Rose-Hill. The decision was reportedly met with applause from attending activists.
Key Agreements Reached
Mr. Bérenger stated that he had held two recent, extended meetings with the Prime Minister—one on Saturday evening and another earlier on Monday, November 17—which resulted in an “entente” on several critical matters.
The agreement focuses on key policy areas, including:
- Electoral Reform.
- The establishment of a National Crime Agency, which is intended to replace the existing Financial Crimes Commission.
- The Air Mauritius situation.
- Several high-profile cases related to drugs and the functioning of the Police Force.
Mr. Bérenger emphasised the comprehensive nature of the agreement, stating: “We have agreed on all necessary decisions”, justifying the MMM’s continued participation in the government.
