Aegean Airlines Eyes Mauritius and Seychelles Expansion
Aegean Airlines has secured regulatory approval to launch scheduled flights connecting Athens with Mauritius and the Seychelles, marking a significant move in the Greek carrier’s expansion into long-haul, exotic markets.
Green Light for Indian Ocean Routes
The Greek Civil Aviation Authority has granted Aegean Airlines permission to operate flights to two key destinations in the Indian Ocean. Specifically, the airline can now plan for regular services on the following routes:
- Athens–Plaisance (Mauritius): Three return flights per week.
- Athens–Victoria (Seychelles): Four return flights per week.
Medium-Term Strategy Shift
The decision to add these destinations comes as the airline continues to broaden its network following its expansion into India.
This strategic push is aimed at increasingly distant markets, particularly in Southeast Asia and Africa.
However, the launch of these new routes is not anticipated for next year. Instead, the services are considered a medium-term prospect within the airline’s future development plans.
