Phase 2 Unveiled for Ekô Savannah Luxury Resort in Tamarin
The launch event for the new phase took place on Thursday, October 30, with the project’s General Manager and co-founder of MJ Développement, Jean Etchepareborde, addressing guests. These 13 new properties are slated for delivery in the third quarter of 2027.
This follows the initial commercial launch in November 2021, which featured 33 villas. Those initial properties are scheduled to be delivered to their owners in April 2026.
The completed resort, located at the foot of La Tourelle, will ultimately feature 46 exclusive villas, each with a private pool.
Integrated Resort Amenities and Services
Ekô Savannah, which spans an 8-hectare private estate, combines residential and five-star hotel elements. The facilities available to residents and visitors include:
- A Club House.
- A 7-day-a-week concierge service.
- A bistronomic restaurant and wine cellar.
- A spa and fitness centre.
- A swimming pool.
- A business centre (a first for the Mauritian west coast, dedicated to business travellers and digital nomads).
- Additional services: a children’s games club, a musical lounge bar (cocktails and mixology), a 120 $m^2$ swimming pool, and in-villa wellness services using an organic cosmetic brand.
The resort’s design, by internationally renowned architect Jean-Marc Eynaud, emphasised environmental respect, energy optimisation, waste control, and social involvement.
It is committed to four ecological principles: eco-design, selective sorting, eco-responsible gardening, and an ethical concierge service.
MJ Développement and Rental Yields
The resort will be operated by MJ Holidays, the hotel subsidiary of MJ Développement. This operator offers owners a comprehensive turnkey rental management and property management service (including maintenance, welcome, upkeep, and bespoke concierge).
This integrated model is promoted as offering owners serenity, hotel-level comfort, and an indicative gross annual rental yield of up to 5.5%.
MJ Développement, founded in 2007 in the Basque Country, is a prominent developer in France and Mauritius, with over 1,900 properties built and sold.
Ekô Savannah will be the group’s fourth resort in Mauritius, adding to Marguery Villas and Mythic Suites & Villas, which have already been delivered and exploited, and Legend Hill, which is currently preparing for opening.
The group has six projects in total on the island, including Shoba & Serena at Wolmar.
