Rose Hill-Réduit Metro Link Faces 1st Sunday Closure on November 2

The Metro Express light rail service has announced the suspension of operations on its Line 2 every Sunday, effective from November 2, 2025.The route affected, which connects Rose Hill Central to Mahatma Gandhi (Réduit), will cease its weekend service as part of a government-approved, long-term cost-reduction plan.

Financial Difficulties Cited

The decision, given the green light by the Council of Ministers, stems from the Metro Express Limited’s (MEL) difficult financial situation and what the government described as low ridership figures recorded on Sundays for this specific segment.

The government has confirmed that the remaining lines across the network will continue to operate normally on all days.
