Air Mauritius Office in Madagascar Sacked as Fire Breaks Out in Protests

The offices of Air Mauritius in Antananarivo were targeted and severely damaged during protests on Thursday, 25 September, a company official has confirmed.
Intruders broke into the premises, ransacked the office, and stole equipment, according to Joël Toussaint, the airline’s head of communication.
As a result of the incident, Air Mauritius’s management has dispatched a technical team to the site.
A fire also broke out on the ground floor of the building. Fortunately, the blaze was quickly brought under control and no injuries were reported.
Crucially, all employees had safely vacated the premises before the incidents began.
Visual evidence from the scene also showed tyres being burnt during the demonstrations in the capital.
The office is currently out of service until further notice to allow for necessary restoration work to be completed following the vandalism and fire.
