Emtel’s Half-Year Revenue Hits Rs 1.97bn Amid 5G and Fintech Boom
Telecom giant Emtel has announced a 10.8% revenue increase to Rs 1.97 billion for the first half of 2025, compared to the same period last year. The results highlight the company’s rapid expansion in 5G connectivity, digital payments, and strategic investments.
Digital Expansion
Emtel has cemented its position as a leader in Mauritius’ digital transformation, achieving 90% nationwide 5G coverage by June 2025. CEO Kresh Goomany stated, “This milestone reflects our aggressive infrastructure rollout and commitment to next-generation connectivity.”
Fintech Boom
The company’s fintech arm, Blink, saw double-digit growth in both transaction volume and value. Emtel also marked a key achievement with its inclusion in the Stock Exchange of Mauritius Sustainability Index (SEMSI) on 29 May.
Since its IPO, the firm has distributed two shareholder dividends and bolstered its equity to Rs 1.22 billion following the Rs 1.62 billion sale of its 25.15% stake in MC Vision.
Future Growth
Goomany emphasised Emtel’s focus on operational efficiency, customer growth, and cutting-edge investments. “We are driving value across consumer, business, and fintech services while scaling our digital platforms,” he said.
With strong financials and expanding infrastructure, Emtel remains on a high-growth trajectory, reinforcing its role as a key player in Mauritius’ evolving digital economy.
