Judicial Probe: 2 Key Witnesses, Dip & Gungadin to Testify in Juliette Case
Judicial investigation into Jacquelin Juliette’s death resumes today at the Pamplemousses court. Former Police Commissioner Anil Kumar Dip and Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin will testify before the court.
Dip will answer questions from lawyer Nataraj Muneesamy, representing the Director of Public Prosecutions.
A key piece of evidence is a recording of Missie Moustass, played during the 2024 election campaign, which led to opening the investigation.
During the last hearing on June 11, Constable Job testified that no search warrant was issued for Jacquelin Juliette on January 5, 2023.
He explained that Juliette, who lives in Résidence Sainte-Claire, Goodlands, was approached by police officers who suspected him of possessing illegal substances.
The officers invited Juliette to get into a police vehicle to keep the operation confidential, as many people watched.
Once inside, Juliette reportedly became hostile, trying to distract the officers and inciting the crowd.
The ongoing inquiry is overseen by Magistrate Neela Ramdewor-Naugah.
