Heavy Showers Fuel Dengue Surge: Authorities Increase Fogging Efforts

Authorities fear an increase in dengue cases. The Ministry of Health plans to implement necessary measures to curb the dengue cases in the country. Less than ten cases were reported in December.

“However, with the recent heavy showers, we must take proactive measures to prevent the multiplication of cases,” explains Dr. Ashwamed Dinassing.

The Director of Health Services adds that fogging exercises will increase nationwide.

Regions such as Port Louis, Nouvelle France, and Plaines Williems are the most affected.

“The instructions have already been given for this exercise to take place this week,” explains the doctor.

He also emphasizes the need for monitoring other diseases, such as malaria and chikungunya.
