SMEs keen to get loans, but facing much hassle

Over 75% members of the SME Chambers are keen to pick in the “loan scheme” offered by the Development Bank of Mauritius (DBM) to pay the end-of-year bonus. But, they are reportedly facing unexpected hurdles.
SME Chambers President Maya Sewnath told Defi Media that the timeline to submit applications is too short (from Monday 20 to Friday 24 December).
She is also concerned about the stringent selection criteria.
“SMEs are discouraged by the volume of requested documents and are abandoning the intention to make a request,” she said.
