Touria Prayag Accepts Communications Head Role at the PMO

The former editor-in-chief of Weekly magazine, Touria Prayag, has been appointed as the new Director of Communication at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The appointment comes following a month of deliberation, after which Ms Prayag accepted the offer to lead the government’s communications department.

She is scheduled to officially assume her new duties next Monday, 13 April.

Professional Transition

To take up the high-profile role, Ms Prayag resigned from her position within the Human Rights Division of the National Human Rights Commission.

She had served at the commission since her appointment there in 2025.

Statements

Reflecting on her move to the Prime Minister’s Office, Ms Prayag stated that she accepted the new role “with a great deal of humility.”

The transition marks a significant return to the media and communications landscape for the veteran journalist, following her recent tenure in human rights advocacy.
