Bérenger Resigns as Deputy Prime Minister Following Call with Ramgoolam

Paul Bérenger has sensationally resigned from his position as Deputy Prime Minister, sending shockwaves through the nation’s political landscape. The announcement was made during a press conference held this morning, Friday 20 March.

Mr Bérenger confirmed his departure following a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam on Thursday, 19 March.

“I Have My Reasons”

Addressing the gathered media, the outgoing Deputy Prime Minister remained tight-lipped regarding the specific catalysts for his exit.

“I have my reasons,” he stated, declining to offer further details on the motives behind the move.

Future of the MMM

The resignation raises immediate questions regarding the leadership and direction of the Mouvement Militant Mauricien (MMM).

While his role in the government has concluded, Mr Bérenger’s future within his party remains undecided.

“I will decide and announce subsequently what I will do within the MMM,” he told reporters.

The Prime Minister’s office has yet to issue a formal statement regarding the resignation or the details of the private conversation held between the two leaders on Thursday, 19 March.
