Local Motoclub Showroom Debuts Benda Brand Starting With New 250 Model

The Mauritian motorcycle market has expanded with the official arrival of Chinese manufacturer Benda, marking the latest entry in a growing wave of Chinese automotive brands establishing a presence on the island.

Local dealer Motoclub has introduced the brand at its Port Louis showroom on Brabant Street, launching the Napoleon Bob 250 as its flagship model. The bike is currently retailing for MUR 250,000.

A Strategic Expansion

The introduction of Benda follows a significant influx of Chinese-manufactured SUVs, electric vehicles, and hybrids into the local market.

Benda’s arrival signals a shift in the competitive landscape for two-wheelers, targeting both novice riders and seasoned enthusiasts.

The brand, owned by Hangzhou Saturn Power Technology Co., Ltd., has seen rapid international growth since its formal market launch in 2016.

It has specifically carved out a niche in the “custom” and cruiser sectors with several key models:

  • Chinchilla 300 (2020): A popular model that established the brand’s cruiser credentials.
  • Chinchilla 450 (2022): A mid-range urban cruiser.
  • Napoleon 500: A larger model that paved the way for the brand’s bobber-style offerings.

Global Ambitions

While Benda offers a wide range of engine displacements—from entry-level 125cc bikes to high-performance four-cylinder sports models—the Napoleon Bob 250 serves as the brand’s opening gambit in Mauritius.

The manufacturer has already established a foothold in Europe through an extensive importer network.

Company representatives stated that the move is part of a broader strategy to become a global brand and “popularise a new style of riding.”

Industry observers in Port Louis will be watching closely to see if Benda can replicate its international success within the Mauritian market.
