Missing Man Found Safe After 2-Day Search in Plaine-Champagne
A 73-year-old man has been rescued by a police helicopter this Monday after spending two nights missing in the dense terrain of Plaine-Champagne.
Hervé Valère, a resident of New-Grove, was located in the early afternoon on Monday, 23 March.
The senior citizen had been the subject of an intensive search operation since Saturday, 21 March, when he became separated from his family during a trip to pick guavas.
The discovery follows a massive mobilisation of authorities and volunteers who worked through the weekend to locate the septuagenarian.
Despite these extensive efforts, Mr Valère had remained untraceable as of Sunday afternoon.
The breakthrough came when a police helicopter spotted the missing man from the air.
Following his rescue, Mr Valère was transported to the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle for medical attention.
