Call for Public Proposals as 2026-2027 Budget Planning Begins
The Ministry of Finance has officially launched its consultative process for the 2026-2027 National Budget, inviting stakeholders and the general public to submit their formal proposals for the upcoming fiscal year.
In a communiqué released on 24 February 2026, the Ministry confirmed it is seeking input from trade and commercial associations, professional bodies, trade unions, NGOs, and civil society organisations to help shape the nation’s financial roadmap.
Economic Growth and Inclusion
The upcoming Budget will reportedly focus on two primary pillars: economic growth and social inclusion. Government officials have outlined several key objectives for the 2026-2027 cycle, including:
- Boosting National Wealth: Strengthening GDP growth potential and enhancing both productivity and competitiveness.
- Employment and Living Standards: Creating high-quality jobs and raising the standard of living for all Mauritians.
- Fiscal and Environmental Sustainability: Restoring healthy public finances while consolidating climate resilience.
Submission Guidelines
Interested parties have until Tuesday, 24 March 2026, to lodge their submissions with the Financial Secretary. The Ministry has provided three distinct channels for delivery:
