Drunk Driver Leaves 2 Seriously Injured in Riche-Terre Collision

A 32-year-old motorist has been arrested after a high-speed collision in Riche-Terre on Tuesday evening left two people with serious injuries. The driver, a resident of Grand-Baie, was heading towards Port-Louis when he lost control of his vehicle. After striking a parapet, his car careened into the opposite lane, colliding with two oncoming vehicles.

Breathalyzer Results

Following the crash, police subjected the driver to a breathalyzer test. The results revealed a breath alcohol level of 82 micrograms per litre of exhaled air—significantly exceeding the legal limit.

Investigation Underway

Emergency services reported that two individuals sustained serious injuries during the pile-up. Local authorities have confirmed that a formal police investigation has been launched to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
