3 Key Reasons Water Restrictions Are Imminent This Summer
Water restrictions are being considered by the government ahead of the summer season due to forecasts predicting lower rainfall, the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities has revealed.
Energy Minister Patrick Assirvaven confirmed yesterday that “several options affecting the distribution of water are currently being studied,” following meteorological services’ indications of reduced precipitation in the coming months.
Vigilance and Precautionary Measures
The Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities is closely monitoring the nation’s water situation as the summer approaches. The anticipated drop in rainfall is prompting authorities to prepare for potential scarcity.
The possible introduction of restrictive measures is intended to “preserve available resources and guarantee an equitable distribution of water across the island,” according to the Ministry.
Communication and Future Decisions
Minister Assirvaven stated that once the Ministry is ready with its measures to secure the water supply, the details will be communicated to the public.
Furthermore, the Ministry emphasised that any final decision on restrictions will be made and announced based on the evolving climatic conditions.
