2 Dead, 3 Injured in Bel-Air/Rivière-Sèche Horrific Car Crash

A week shy of his 34th birthday, a father of two was killed in a car accident in the late hours of Sunday, September 14. Thaleshwarsing Coomhar, 33, died instantly alongside his passenger, Keshav Ramputh, 32, after their vehicle crashed into a concrete wall. The crash, which occurred near Indian Oil on the Bel Air/Rivière-Sèche route, left two others injured.

The two men were pronounced dead at the scene by the SAMU. According to a police report, the car, which was carrying four people, veered off the road around 10 pm on Sunday night before the violent impact.

Thaleshwarsing’s aunt, Samita Bookul, told Défi Media Group that he had been out with friends. The car was travelling from Beau-Champ towards Bel Air when the crash occurred.

The two surviving passengers, Bundhun Rummumsingh, 25, and Akash Oodith, 31, were taken to SAJ Hospital in Flacq. Rummumsingh is in a stable condition, while Oodith was transferred to SSRN Hospital for further tests.

Mourning the Victims Thaleshwarsing, who was a father to a six-month-old baby and another child, leaves behind a wife and a grieving family. He was due to celebrate his 34th birthday next week.

Coomhar and Ramputh, who were neighbours in Caroline, will be buried on September 14 afternoon, according to their loved ones.

A family friend shared that the community is in shock and mourning the loss of the two men.
