Mauritius Pension System Supports 278,860, Including 199 Centenarians

Latest figures from the Mauritius Social Security have revealed that 278,860 retirees are currently receiving a Basic Retirement Pension. The data, published for July 2025, shows that a significant majority, 273,868, are aged between 60 and 89 years, each receiving a monthly allowance of Rs 15,000.

Age-based Pension Breakdown

The report highlights a tiered system for pension payments, with higher amounts allocated to older age groups.

Specifically, 4,793 individuals aged 90 to 99 years are on the recipient list, each receiving Rs 22,710 per month.

The figures also show 199 centenarians are benefiting from the scheme, each with a monthly pension of Rs 27,710.

Additional Social Support

Beyond the retirement pension, the data details other forms of social assistance.

An additional 21,310 severely disabled beneficiaries receive a supplementary allowance of Rs 3,500.

The report also provides a breakdown of support for children and families.

2,713 children receive the Child Allowance, with 199 under the age of 10 and 2,514 aged 10 and over, all of whom are allocated Rs 2,500 each per month.

Furthermore, 871 children are recipients of Food Aid. Finally, 31,441 children or families are registered for Income Support, receiving a monthly payment of Rs 353.
