Weather Warning: 4-Meter High Waves and 3°C Drop
A strong high-pressure system located south-southwest of the Mascarenes continues to influence local weather. It brings moderate, cool northeast trade winds, causing temperatures to drop by about 3°C below the seasonal average.
An official warning for high waves is in effect for Mauritius until 4 p.m. today, according to the meteorological station’s bulletin issued Friday 4th July.
Weather will be cloudy, with rain mainly in the east, south, and central plateau. Some fog patches are also expected in certain areas. Later on, the sky will remain partly cloudy with light rain on the higher ground.
High temperatures will range from 18°C to 21°C on the central plateau and from 23°C to 25°C along the coast.
At night, lows will be between 14°C and 16°C in the highlands and between 18°C and 20°C on the coast.
The wind will blow from the southeast at 20 to 30 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 60 km/h in some spots.
The sea will be very rough beyond the reefs, with southwest swells reaching around 4 meters. These waves could affect lagoons and may reach lower-altitude beaches on the west and south coasts, especially during high tide.
Residents are strongly advised to avoid going to sea or venturing onto beaches during high tide, particularly fishermen, boaters, and the general public.
