Fisheries Bill Mandates Pre-Notification and Stricter Enforcement
Those intending to go for fishing expeditions will soon be required to notify government authorities before taking the sea, according to a new law.
The Fisheries Bill, soon to be presented at the National Assembly, will replace the existing Fisheries and Marine Resources Act.
The Bill encompasses provisions for responsible marine resource management, sustainable fisheries development, and strict enforcement against illegal practices.
It reportedly also addresses international protocols and introduces measures for wreck removal and vessel management.
Additionally, the Bill incorporates monitoring and enforcement mechanisms, along with stricter penalties for unlawful activities.
