RHT Accelerates Electric Transition with New 0-Emission Fleet
Public transport operator Rose-Hill Transport (RHT) Bus Services Ltd has reached a significant milestone in its shift toward sustainable mobility, doubling its electric fleet with the commissioning of three new zero-emission vehicles.
The arrival of the Higer KLQ 6106 models brings the company’s total number of fully electric buses to six.
These 47-seater vehicles are already operational, sporting a modernised design that reflects the operator’s new visual identity.
A Roadmap to 2030
This acquisition is the opening gambit in a larger structural transformation. RHT plans to introduce 20 electric buses per year until 2030, systematically replacing its existing diesel fleet.
To support this transition, the company is developing a dedicated solar farm.
This renewable energy infrastructure is designed to provide clean power for the fleet, significantly bolstering the energy autonomy of RHT’s operations.
Enhanced Passenger Experience
The Higer KLQ 6106 buses feature 100% electric motors, resulting in:
- Zero tailpipe emissions
- Significant reductions in noise pollution
- Reduced vibrations for a smoother, more comfortable passenger journey
Decades of Heritage, Decades of Innovation
Operating for 72 years, RHT Bus Services Ltd—a subsidiary of RHT Holding Ltd—is a cornerstone of local infrastructure, transporting over 25,000 passengers daily across 12 major routes in the Plaines-Wilhems district.
The company has been engaged in electromobility since 2019, making it one of the first operators in Mauritius to embrace the technology.
According to Mehdi Bundhun, Communication Executive of RHT Holding Ltd, the move aligns operational performance with environmental responsibility and energy innovation.
Through this ongoing expansion, the firm continues to build on its established expertise in the technical management and maintenance of electric public transport.
