FCC Arrests Construction Director over Suspicious Assets Totaling Rs 670 Million
Somaskamdan Vadarajoo Warden, the Managing Director of Kuros Construction Solutions Ltd and EG Management Ltd, has been arrested by the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) in connection with a massive money laundering investigation.
The 50-year-old businessman, widely known as Selven Warden, was taken into custody on Thursday, 26 February.
He is expected to appear in court this Friday, 27 February, to face a provisional charge of money laundering.
The arrest follows an extensive investigation into financial facilities granted by the Mauritius Investment Corporation (MIC). Kuros Construction Solutions Ltd, a firm involved in social housing projects, had reportedly secured funding from the MIC amounting to several hundred million rupees.
Suspicious Funds and Bank Accounts
The FCC’s investigation focuses on over MUR 670 million held by Mr Warden between January 2022 and August 2024.
Detectives allege that, in his capacity as director of both Kuros Construction Solutions and EG Management, Mr Warden held these funds across two separate banking institutions.
Investigators have flagged the sums as suspicious, suggesting they may have originated from criminal activities.
Timeline of the Investigation
- April 2025: Mr Warden was first questioned regarding loans granted by the MIC but was allowed to leave at that time.
- Thursday, 26 February 2026: Following further inquiries into the financial flows, the FCC formalised the arrest.
- Current Status: After his arrest, Mr Warden was held at the Moka Detention Centre.
The FCC has confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing. Officers are currently working to trace the exact movement of the capital and establish the definitive source of the funds.

The Managing Director of two prominent construction firms has been arrested by the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) in connection with a major investigation into the suspected laundering of more than MUR 670 million.
Somaskamdan Vadarajoo, better known as Selven Warden, was taken into custody on Thursday, 26 February. The 50-year-old, who heads both Kuros Construction Solutions Ltd and EG Management Ltd, is expected to appear in court today to face a provisional charge of money laundering.
Suspicious Financial Flows
The arrest marks a significant escalation in a long-running inquiry into financial facilities granted by the Mauritius Investment Corporation (MIC) to Kuros Construction Solutions Ltd, a company involved in social housing projects.
According to the FCC, the investigation focuses on substantial funds held across two banking institutions between January 2022 and August 2024. Investigators allege that:
- Warden held over MUR 670 million in his capacity as director of the two companies.
- The funds are considered “suspect” and are believed to potentially originate from criminal activities.
Ongoing Investigation
While Mr Warden was previously questioned regarding this matter in April 2025—at which time he was permitted to leave—the FCC has now moved to formalise the charges.

Current Detention
Following his arrest, Mr Warden was transferred to the Moka Detention Centre. He remains in custody pending his scheduled court appearance this Friday.
