Parents Report 2 Bus Routes Failing Students during the Morning Rush Hour

Authorities are considering urgent adjustments to bus schedules in Arsenal after reports emerged of students being unable to board overcrowded vehicles during the morning rush hour.

The National Land Transport Authority (NLTA) is under fire following claims that buses on key routes are frequently bypassing stops, leaving children stranded.

The service disruptions specifically affect Route 21 (Goodlands) and Route 159 (Poudre-d’Or), which are vital links for pupils heading to school.

“Doors Closed” on Waiting Passengers

One local parent has raised the alarm over what they describe as “repeated malfunctions” in the transport system.

In one recent incident near 07:30, a bus arriving from Poudre-d’Or reportedly failed to take on any new passengers at an Arsenal stop.

Witnesses claim the doors were closed despite people waiting to board, leaving students standing at the roadside.

The situation has been described as a double threat to the community, impacting both the children’s education and their physical safety.

Government Response and Crowding Issues

Speaking on Radio Plus’s Explik Ou Ka, Iqbal Oozageer, Press Attaché for the Ministry of Transport, acknowledged the difficulties.

While official timetables suggest buses should run at 10-minute intervals, Oozageer noted that heavy demand during peak hours often results in vehicles reaching Arsenal already at full capacity.

“Adjustments are being studied to reduce waiting times and improve the regularity of the service, particularly in the morning,” Oozageer stated.

A Plea for Action

The outcry comes after a resident claimed to have made over 20 unanswered calls to the NLTA to report the issue.

Feeling ignored by official channels, parents have now taken the matter public to demand a concrete solution.

Ministry officials have confirmed they are now in contact with relevant managers to examine the route data and address the recurring delays.
