4 Areas Face Major Electricity Cuts this January 10 for Network Maintenance
Residents and businesses across several districts face scheduled electricity supply interruptions this Saturday, 10 January, as the Central Electricity Board (CEB) carries out essential grid maintenance.
The CEB has confirmed that the outages are necessary to facilitate network reinforcement and routine maintenance works.
The disruptions will affect key areas including Highlands, Pereybère, and Plaine-des-Roches, with some outages lasting up to seven and a half hours.
Regional Breakdown of Outages
The impact varies by location, with the following schedule released by the utility provider:
- Highlands (08:30 – 16:00): The longest disruption will occur here, affecting Sorefan Lane, Mosque Road, Dilmohamed Lane, Peerally Lane, Morc Parmessur, Morc Valdoise, and sections of Boundary and Tout Court Roads.
- Pereybère (08:30 – 15:00): Supplies will be cut along the Coastal Road and Impasse Jolicoeur. The areas surrounding the Hibiscus Hotel and Paradise Cove are also included in the shutdown.
- Plaine-des-Roches (08:30 – 15:00): Royal Road and Village Hall Lane (towards Laventure) will be affected, alongside the vicinity of the former Mangue Blanc restaurant.
- Candos–Vacoas (09:00 – 12:00): A shorter three-hour window is planned for Lall Surry Lahadoor Avenue.
Infrastructure Investment
The CEB stated that these programmed cuts are part of a broader effort to strengthen the electrical network’s reliability.
Subscribers in the affected zones are advised to make necessary arrangements ahead of the weekend works.
