New 146 Phone Line Promises Concrete Action On All Public Health Concerns

The Ministry of Health has officially launched a dedicated 24-hour hotline, 146, designed to provide citizens with a direct line to report grievances regarding public health services.

Speaking at the official launch ceremony held on Tuesday, 6 January, at Dr A. G. Jeetoo Hospital, Health Minister Anil Bachoo emphasised a commitment to accountability, asserting that “all grievances will be taken seriously.”

Immediate Response and Quality Care

The new service is already fully operational, providing round-the-clock access every day of the week.

Minister Bachoo stated that the primary objective of the initiative is to bridge the gap between the healthcare system and its patients while driving improvements in the quality of care provided across the country.

The Minister further reassured the public that the hotline is not merely a symbolic gesture, noting that concrete actions will be initiated whenever necessary to resolve the issues raised by callers.

The launch event was attended by high-ranking officials, including Minister Bachoo and ‘Junior Minister’ Anishta Babooram, underscoring the government’s focus on public health reform.

Digital Future: The E-Health Roadmap

In addition to the hotline launch, the Health Minister provided an update on the ambitious E-Health project.

He confirmed that procedures are currently underway to modernise the system. The government has set a definitive target to digitise the entirety of the nation’s health services by 2027.
