Drunk Driver Found With 70 Micrograms of Alcohol After 3 Car Smash
A motorist has tested positive for drink-driving following a dramatic multi-vehicle collision on the Cascavelle Link Road on Saturday, December 20, which left two people hospitalised.
Police reports confirmed the driver was found to have 70 micrograms of alcohol in his system after his vehicle lost control and overturned.
Two passengers from the car remain under observation at Victoria Hospital following the incident.
Chaos Near the Roundabout
The accident occurred at approximately 18:20 near the Cascavelle roundabout. Preliminary police findings suggest the driver lost control of the vehicle while attempting an overtaking manoeuvre.
The car reportedly grazed one vehicle before colliding head-on with both a Mitsubishi Pajero and a BMW. The force of the impact caused the car to flip over, coming to rest on its roof in the middle of the carriageway.
Emergency Response and Recovery
Emergency services descended on the scene to secure the area and manage the wreckage. The response included:
- Tamarin Fire Station crews
- The Road Traffic Unit
- Emergency Response Service (ERS)
- The Police Towing Service
The Investigation
As the area is not covered by CCTV surveillance, investigators are currently relying on eyewitness accounts and forensic evidence at the scene to reconstruct the exact timeline of events.
While official cameras were absent, a video capturing the moment of the crash has begun circulating on social media, which may assist authorities in their ongoing enquiries.
