A 27-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Louis Stephan Coulon, has tragically died following a collision with a lorry at Deux-Bras, Rose-Belle in the afternoon of Wednesday, 3 December.

Lorry Driver Detained After Fatal Crash

The most newsworthy element is the death of the young man.

Mr. Coulon, a resident of St Hubert, was riding his motorcycle when it was struck by a lorry carrying goods. Emergency services arrived to find the motorcyclist trapped beneath the vehicle.

Despite the quick intervention of rescue teams, a SAMU doctor could only confirm the young man’s death at the scene.

Post-Mortem Findings and Police Action

The victim’s body was taken to Rose-Belle hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The autopsy, carried out later that evening by the police forensic department, concluded that the cause of death was shock caused by multiple injuries.

The 34-year-old lorry driver, an inhabitant of Curepipe, was arrested and detained following the incident.

An alcohol test administered to the driver returned a negative result. Blood samples from the thirty-four-year-old have also been collected and sent to the FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) for drug screening analysis.
