21-Yr-Old Mother Found Dead After ‘Live’ Hanging on Social Media

A mother of three was found hanged at her home in Petit-Verger early on Monday, 1st December, following reports she carried out the act live on Facebook.

Police launched an intervention after an alert was transmitted shortly after midnight, when a friend of the victim reported witnessing the incident via a social media broadcast.

Police Intervention and Investigation Details

The woman was discovered at the Caprice Road property, where she lived with her partner.

Initially, officers were deployed to the friend’s address, as she was unable to provide the victim’s precise location. The police were subsequently directed to the correct residence in Petit-Verger.

Viewer Reaction

Disturbingly, viewers watching the live stream reportedly continued to comment, with some asking the woman if she was “alright” as she was putting the rope around her neck.

Autopsy Findings

The victim’s body was transferred to the Dr A. G. Jeetoo hospital morgue, where a post-mortem examination was performed on the same day. The forensic doctor concluded the death was caused by asphyxia due to hanging.

Authorities have stated that no suspicious elements have been noted at this stage of the investigation, and the body has since been released to the family. No formal complaint has been registered regarding the death.
