President Macron Arrives in Mauritius for 24-Hour Official Visit

French President Emmanuel Macron landed in Mauritius today, Thursday, November 20, kicking off a high-stakes 24-hour official visit as part of his diplomatic tour of Africa.

Diplomatic Welcome

The presidential aircraft, an Airbus A330, touched down at Plaisance Airport and was immediately greeted on the tarmac by a host of Mauritian dignitaries.

Leading the official welcome was the Head of Government, Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, and his wife.

Full Reception

President Macron was also warmly received by Deputy Prime Minister Paul Bérenger, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Shirin Aumeeruddy-Cziffra, and the Leader of the Opposition, Joe Lesjongard. Several other key figures were present to mark the occasion.

African Tour Agenda

The official visit is scheduled for 24 hours and comes amid an already dense diplomatic agenda for the French President during his wider African tour.
