Public Health Boost: 100 New Doctors Inducted to Address Chronic Staff Shortage

The public healthcare sector has received a significant injection of 100 newly recruited Medical and Health Officers/Senior Medical and Health Officers, in a move designed to combat a chronic and acute staffing shortage that has worsened over the years due to inadequate recruitment.

The Ministry of Health organised an induction ceremony for the new personnel at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Public Services and Innovation, located within the Côte d’Or Technopole.

Minister Praises ‘Noble, Demanding’ Profession

Addressing the new recruits, Health Minister Anil Kumar Bachoo paid tribute to the new generation of healthcare staff, commending their tenacity, courage, and determination in choosing this “noble, but demanding” profession.

The Minister expressed confidence that the country’s citizens would be in “good hands” with the latest cohort.

He underlined the essential role of healthcare within the nation and urged the new officers to serve with selflessness, diligence, and commitment, encouraging them to become “beacons of light” for the suffering and to remain resilient in the face of challenges.

Reinforcing the System and Digital Future

Mr. Bachoo noted that the arrival of these officers is crucial for strengthening the system and improving the quality of care provided to the population, particularly in light of the increasing demand for health services.

The Minister also mentioned the upcoming implementation of the E-Health system. He described this modern, reliable, and patient-centric digital platform as a measure that will reduce administrative burdens and further improve healthcare provision.
