New Rs 1.5 Billion Road Opens to Ease Congestion for 10,000 Drivers

The second phase of the La Vigie–La Brasserie–Beaux-Songes road project has officially opened, adding a 9.5km new section of infrastructure designed to significantly cut traffic jams for around 10,000 motorists.

The Rs 1.5 billion investment was inaugurated by Minister of Public Infrastructure, Ajay Gunness, at a ceremony held on Wednesday, before the new road section opened to traffic on Thursday, October 30, at 10 am.

The major development is expected to improve traffic flow and accessibility in the region.

Minister’s Remarks and Route Information

During the opening event, Minister Gunness expressed his satisfaction with the significant infrastructure step and stressed the importance of road safety, urging all users to be extra vigilant on the new route.

This Phase 2 extension runs from the La Marie road (B102), passing through Henrietta and Holyrood before finishing at Pierrefonds.

It will connect the B2 (Palma) and the B130 (Phoenix–Beaux-Songes), enhancing access to areas including Palma, Bassin, Solferino, and the Flic-en-Flac bypass.

Prior Development

The road is part of the larger La Vigie–La Brasserie–Beaux-Songes–Flic-en-Flac Link Road. Phase 1 of this project was opened on December 5, 2023.

That first phase begins on the M1 motorway at La Vigie, intersects with the Phoenix–Plaisance road (A10) at the 16th Mile, and concludes on the La Marie road (B102)
