Accountancy Profession Boosted by 175 New ACCA Experts in Mauritius

Culminating in a “New Member Ceremony” on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Royal Green Wellness Resort in Moka, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in Mauritius has inducted 175 new members. This latest cohort of professionals, who achieved ACCA Member status between January and August 2025, significantly strengthens the country’s accountancy profession.

With these additions, the total number of ACCA members in Mauritius now stands at approximately 4,500, which represents nearly 80% of the accountancy profession nationwide.

Ceremony Highlights and Industry Recognition

The event was sponsored by KPMG Mauritius. Speakers included Den Surfraz, FCCA, a member of the ACCA global council, Madhavi Ramdin-Clark, Head of ACCA Mauritius & New Markets, and Ashish Ramyead, Audit Partner at KPMG Mauritius.

All speakers lauded the high standards of the qualification and the crucial role chartered certified accountants play in a rapidly changing economic environment.

John Chung, Managing Partner of KPMG Mauritius, remarked that the new members “embody the future of ethical and agile leadership,” hailing a generation set to shape a more sustainable financial world.

Qualification Requirements and Scope

To attain ACCA Member status, candidates must successfully complete three levels of examinations, verify a minimum of three years of professional experience, and meet the organisation’s strict ethical requirements.

This status enables professionals to take on increased responsibilities, including auditing and signing off accounts, and also opens doors to high-level consulting and management positions.

The ACCA qualification is globally recognised in over 180 countries and is equivalent to a British Master’s degree, while maintaining a strong focus on practical application.

Future of the ACCA Curriculum

The ACCA curriculum is regularly updated to meet market demands. An in-depth overhaul is scheduled for 2027, which will incorporate more skills in management and professional practice. A transition programme is also planned for students already engaged in the course.
