Mauritius Hosts 1st Major Summit On Ageing Science With 3 Days Of Expert Panels
Mauritius is set to host its first-ever major conference dedicated to the science of ageing and preventive health, the Mauritius Longevity Summit 2025, from November 13th to 15th at the Trianon Convention Centre.
The unprecedented three-day event, focused on preventive health, longevity science, and long-term quality of life, is being organised by the Advanced Medical Learning Center in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Private Clinics Association.
Its core objective is to shift the focus from reactive medicine to a proactive, integrated, and preventive approach to health.
The summit is expected to draw major international figures in longevity research and innovation.
Key speakers will include Mehmood Khan, former CEO of PepsiCo USA and current CEO of the Hevolution Foundation; Dr. Brian Kennedy, Director of the Centre for Healthy Longevity in Singapore; and Dr. John Newman, a geriatrician at the Buck Institute and professor at the University of California, San Francisco.
Additionally, Dr. Peter H. Diamandis, founder of the XPRIZE Foundation and co-founder of Singularity University, and a recognised global authority on longevity and health innovation, will address the summit via video conference.
He is known for advocating the use of exponential technologies to extend healthy lifespans.
The initiative comes as Mauritius faces a continuous increase in chronic diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular illnesses, and cancer.
The summit aims to inspire Mauritians to embrace a more preventive health approach, integrating science, technology, and knowledge into their daily lives.
Damien Adam, the project’s initiator, stressed the importance of quality of life over mere lifespan:
“The goal is not only to live longer, but to live in good health, with vitality and autonomy. Longevity is above all about quality of life.“
He added that the aim is to ensure that “science and innovation must not remain confined to laboratories: they must be placed at the service of everyone’s well-being.”
Over a dozen other experts from Europe, Asia, and the United States will join the aforementioned speakers.
They are scheduled to share the latest advances across fields including nutrition, digital health, integrative medicine, and mental wellness—all placing prevention at the heart of public health.
The event is framed as the start of a national longevity movement, seeking to unite national forces behind the ambition of making Mauritius a model for a healthier, more conscious, and more resilient society.
Sessions for participants will blend science, prevention, and human experience, featuring plenary lectures and discussion panels.
Topics will cover nutrition and metabolism, digital health, preventive and integrative medicine, as well as the science of ageing and longevity medicine.
Each session is intended to highlight practical methods for extending healthy years and strengthening the culture of prevention in the country.
Registration for the Mauritius Longevity Summit 2025 is currently open, with options for both in-person and online participation.
Full programme details, the list of speakers, and participation terms are available on the summit’s website (https://longevitysummit.mu).
The event is registered with the Mauritius Qualifications Authority (MQA) and may qualify for reimbursement of participation costs via the Human Resources Development Council (HRDC).
