3 Boards Lose Director as Gilbert Noël Quits Amid ‘Media Storm’
Gilbert Noël has resigned immediately from the boards of Airport Holdings Ltd (AHL), Mauritius Helicopter Ltd (MHL), and Jet Prime Ltd, citing a “negative media campaign” targeting him. The decision, effective immediately, was conveyed in a letter dated 24 October 2025 to the directors of the respective boards.
Controversy and Justification
Mr. Noël explicitly linked his departure to the media campaign, which he said stemmed from his role on the board of Jet Prime Ltd and its handling of a “rescue evacuation in Madagascar following a military coup d’état.”
He stated that his resignation was primarily motivated by his refusal to have his “integrity be questioned or be subject to cynicism.”
Details of the Jet Prime Incident
A professional in law, Mr. Noël addressed the specifics of the controversy in his letter. He clarified his limited involvement in the evacuation incident.
He stated that he “briefly greeted the family” at Jet Prime Ltd’s premises after the necessary landing authorisations had been issued “in accordance with legal requirements.”
He stressed that he “did not at any time intervene” with the civil aviation authorities or the passport and immigration office concerning the landing authorisations or any other rights.
Mr. Noël concluded that his principal relief was knowing that “the said family was safe.”
