2-Day Live Fire Drills Off Grand-Baie: Police Issue Urgent Safety Warning

Police are urging the public to exercise “utmost vigilance” and avoid a section of the Grand-Baie area as the Coast Guard conducts live fire exercises. The real-fire drills, involving the Dornier MPCG-3 aircraft of the Coast Guard, are scheduled to take place on Thursday, 23 October, and Friday, 24 October 2025. The manoeuvres will occur between 10:00 and 15:00 on both days.

Exclusion Zone Established

The operation will be conducted within a defined area measuring 5.8 nautical miles by 5.5 nautical miles.

Aircraft altitude during the exercises will range between 100 and 3,000 feet.

Pilots, boaters, and the general public have been explicitly requested to stay clear of the designated zone for the entire duration of the drills.

Safety First

The police have stressed the importance of strictly adhering to safety instructions to prevent any possible incident. They have called for maximum caution from everyone in the vicinity.
