CEB Appoints GM Amid Imminent Energy Crisis Fears
Shamshir Mukoon has been confirmed as the new General Manager of the Central Electricity Board (CEB), taking the reins as the country grapples with an imminent energy crisis.
Ratification and Previous Role
The appointment was formally ratified at a meeting of the board of directors held earlier this week.
Mukoon moves into the top role from his previous position as the Head of Production at the CEB.
Recent Island Alert
The change in leadership comes at a critical time, highlighted by the island being placed on red alert shortly before 6 pm on 15th October. While the situation returned to normal around 8 pm, the incident underscores the significant challenges facing the CEB.
