Rs 64+ Million Heroin Haul: Indian Passenger Arrested at Plaisance Airport
The significant drug bust, which involved the seizure of 4.3 kilograms of heroin, occurred on Friday, October 10. Officers from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Section (CANS) of the customs authority made the discovery during a routine check.
The heroin, which has an estimated street value of Rs 64.8 million (approximately million, based on exchange rates), was found hidden in a false bottom of the passenger’s baggage.
The suspect, identified as Obayadhulla Zakkariya, 55, had arrived on a flight originating from Malaysia.
Arrest and Ongoing Investigation
Following the discovery, Mr. Zakkariya was arrested by officers from the Airport Drug Section (ADSU).
The investigation into the seizure is currently underway and is being supervised by Superintendent of Police Ghoora and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Goinden.
