Mauritius to Host Flame Festival 2025: Major Creative Showcase Set for October
All is set to host the Flame Festival 2025 this October, an event poised to position the nation as a central hub for creativity and innovation in the Indian Ocean. Organised by the Association of Communication Agencies (ACA), the biennial festival aims to become a crucial platform for promoting local talent and placing Mauritius on the global map for creativity.
Ranjana Foogooa, President of the ACA, described the festival as “more than a celebration,” calling it “a showcase of the future of communication.” Yanis Sookloll, Vice-President of the ACA, added that the goal is to establish “a meeting place for the region where technological innovation, creative authenticity and societal impact intersect.”
The ACA, which boasts over 50 years of experience in developing the Mauritian communication industry, is orchestrating the event.
Dense Programme of Events
The festival’s schedule is packed, beginning with an intensive training session on the industry’s major transformations on 14 October. Six international speakers are due to lead this session.
Highlights of the programme include:
- 14 October: Intensive training session featuring six international speakers.
- 15 October: The Industry Behind the Scene session, which will pay tribute to key players in the local ecosystem.
- 16 October: A cinema evening dedicated to showcasing the best creations from the Loeries awards.
- 17 October: The flagship Awards Night, where the most inspiring projects will be recognised and rewarded.
In the run-up to the main events, a Student Competition will offer young talents an opportunity to distinguish themselves. Furthermore, a Career Day will be held on 20 November at the Charles Telfair Institute, allowing Higher School Certificate students to explore the career prospects offered by this rapidly expanding industry.
International Speaker Line-up Revealed
The line-up for the training session promises to bring “a new breath” to the industry, featuring a diverse range of topics:
- Thomas Kolster will discuss how brands can make a positive impact through Goodvertising.
- Megan Fowkes is set to cover the integration of artificial intelligence into communication strategies.
- Penelope Boeuf will present the podcast as a medium of the future.
- Dr. Pepe Marais will stress the irreplaceable importance of human creativity.
- Suhayl Limbada, Chief Marketing Officer, will share insights on keeping a brand top-of-mind for consumers.
- Khalik Sheriff will explore the potential of hyper-realistic AI films.
