Mauritius to Host 2026 US-Africa Business Summit
The Republic of Mauritius has been announced as the host of the 18th U.S.-Africa Business Summit, an event that brings together African heads of state, government officials, and business leaders to discuss trade and investment.
The agreement was formalised in a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed in New York on 24 September 2025 by Ms Florizelle Liser, President and CEO of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), and the Mauritian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Dhananjay Ramful.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
The U.S.-Africa Business Summit is a significant platform for exploring commercial opportunities and is expected to attract high-level participants from both continents.
The decision to select Mauritius highlights the country’s role in strengthening the trade and investment relationship between the United States and Africa.
Florie Liser of the CCA commented that the summit will provide a “critical platform to strengthen U.S.-Africa economic relations, explore investment opportunities, and foster partnerships.”
Minister Ramful stated that Mauritius is “honored to host the 2026 U.S.-Africa Business Summit,” adding that the nation has long served as a “bridge between Africa and the world.”
Mauritius was chosen for its political stability, strong governance, and role as a “dynamic financial and trade hub” at the crossroads of Africa and Asia.
The summit will focus on key sectors, including energy, infrastructure, agribusiness, health, and financial services, with the aim of striking deals that will benefit both African and American citizens.
The exact dates for the 2026 summit have yet to be announced.
