Rescue Operation Saves 3 Off Le Morne Coast Amidst Strong Waves

A police helicopter has rescued a kitesurfer off the coast of Le Morne, Mauritius, after a distress call was received on Saturday 20th September. The individual was airlifted to safety by the Chetak helicopter and brought back to shore unharmed.

In a related operation, two other kitesurfers in difficulty were also saved. The National Coast Guard, aided by a pleasure boat, intervened to rescue them.

Authorities have issued a warning about high swells along the entire Mauritian coastline.

The advisory remains in effect until 4am on Monday, 22nd September 2025, and formal advice is to avoid all sea excursions during this time.
