New Police Press Officer: ASP’s Vision to Balance Police Transparency
Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Suhail Lidialam has been appointed as the new head of the Police Press Office (PPO), taking over from Chief Inspector Shiva Coothen. Coothen has been transferred to the Emergency Response Team.
Lidialam, a former Cadet Officer who has previously worked at the Police Press Office, officially began his new role on Tuesday, September 16.
He emphasised the importance of keeping the public accurately informed in an age of instant information.
He also highlighted his vision to balance effective police communication with the duty of discretion.
An honours graduate with a degree in French and a master’s in communication, Lidialam said he felt honoured by the appointment and ready to tackle the challenge, particularly through digital channels.
