2 Decades of Experience: New Chairman Takes the Reins at SBM Holdings

Mahendra Vikramdass Punchoo has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors at SBM Holdings, effective immediately. The appointment follows a restructuring of the institution’s board on 15 September.

Experienced Banker Takes the Helm

SBM Holdings Ltd (SBMH) announced the appointment, highlighting Punchoo’s extensive experience in the banking sector.

A statement from the company noted that Punchoo spent over three decades at the Bank of Mauritius (BOM), including nearly 25 years in its research, analysis, and economic statistics department.

He later served as Second Deputy Governor from December 2014 until his retirement in February 2020.

The board of SBMH stated that his background is a significant asset for guiding the group’s strategic direction.

The SBMH management expressed confidence in Punchoo’s ability to actively contribute to the group’s medium and long-term development projects, particularly within the current evolving economic landscape.
