Meteorological forecasters are closely monitoring the approach of two anticyclones poised to affect the Mascarene Islands’ weather. While the first, a weaker anticyclone, is currently bringing moderate trade winds to the region, a second system is expected to influence conditions in the coming days, according to Vacoas weather station.

The immediate forecast for Monday 8 September, predicts some rain for the island’s higher elevations. Elsewhere, a mix of sun and clouds is expected.

Maximum temperatures are forecast to reach 28 °C in Port Louis, while minimums will range from 15 °C in the highlands to 20 °C in the capital.

Winds will be moderate, averaging between 20 and 25 km/h, but gusts could reach 50 km/h in some areas.

Seas will be rough beyond the reefs, and deep-sea trips are not recommended.
